It’s an objectification. A man is not visually seen beside flowers, a woman is not seen alongside botanical life that is visually “unpleasant” (weeds, thorns etc unless the goal is to present the woman with as evil, old etc - maleficent and thorns - visually telling of her “evil” characteristics. She is powerful in a man’s world, so she MUST be evil according to the story) A flower is pleasant, pretty delicate and colourful. To be LOOKED at, to gain pleasure from gazing at a flower. That is the same for women, not portrayed with intention of telling us her story but with the purpose to be looked at, through the male gaze. Once a flower is out of bloom, dying with dry petals falling the flowers “purpose” becomes diminished, and that is the same with women. Our purpose that’s become forcefully decided through the male gaze controls when we are “worthy” and purposeful. To be looked and gazed at, for visual pleasure. A woman’s life and a flower’s life cycle is where we overlap, use that not to see the negative with all the pretty florals but to use that as a opportunity to create a bonding friendship only women and flowers can have, they are our friend, we can relate to one another as living matter. We’ve been forced into the same situation based on our existence of beauty
