Literally, immediately after I was broken up with I started therapy, went back to school, back in the gym, made new girl friends to hang out with, spent time with my family and lost 30+lbs. Dating and “meeting someone new” was NEVER my first thought.

It helps them regulate. But ironically, the very thing that keeps them regulated also destroys other people's trust in them They know they've done people dirty, so the guilt/shame from that drives them further into seeking regulation and maintaining the same pattern
