I love to laugh at myself as there is truth in the jokes but hear me out. Ortho here and I have come to appreciate that we all have our niche over the years. I have learned it can go both ways. Like the pubic rami fracture consults or ankle sprain consults which are basic to us. I wouldn’t chastise my hospitalist for calling me about these as on occasion when I assess the patient I pick up on other more important issues and it changes the course of patient care like the missed peri prosthetic fracture the radiologist missed and I found. We are all here to support the care of patients to its most safest and maximal degree. We are all better together! ❤️

In residency we had a mandatory surgical rotation which I hated. I complained to the director that I found it useless, because all I did was rewrite their fluid orders and fix the medications. His response was, why do you think we make the rotation mandatory?

Serious question … do all “ortho “ doctors in the hospital settings have an entourage? I’ve been in hospital 2 times in past 6 months Both times for infection in my foot due to complications from Lisfranc fracture surgery where hardware is involved. Literally when ortho “ team” walked in there was at least 6 people all looking at my foot Not complaining just never had that happened before. Both times it happened. It was the same hospital both time as well.

Vascular surgeon here. I had to admit my own patient once. Didn’t restart her Dilantin & she had a seizure on the floor.
