Whenever it can be done safely, a supervisor should enlist someone the individual knows and trusts—such as a co-worker—to help calm the situation. If that fails or the situation presents an immediate safety risk then the response should be escalated. The snooty supervisor and her confrontational demeaning tone is not operating in the employees best interest.
