I have a theory Cruise missing the Oscar so many times made him like "what would I do AFTER an Oscar?" and he realized he loved fun insane stunts. So he decided rather than put that on hold, he'd put the Oscar on hold. Because biology has rules. careers don't. He's had a decade and a half of CRAZY fun stunts paid for by someone else, with ultimate safety protections. How spectacular is that? And now he can resume his Oscar chase...or he can play these unhinged characters be clearly loves. You can do those things in an old body.

Tom cruise is brilliant. I love him. He's mad and in a cult but he is an incredible actor. Edge of tomorrow is an amazing movie. Top gun is so good. Vanilla sky is insane.

I agree whole heartedly. Not to say his big budget action flicks aren't fun, but he is genuinely a terrific actor. The Color of Money, Jerry Maguire, Rain Main, Collateral, and many more.
