“Renouncing the South China Sea is giving up China’s status as Major Power” there you go, so please stop with the hypocrisy and be actually honest that you guys just want a strategic position in case of a war and the vast resources within the sea. Cause frankly speaking, if the so called peace loving China is really peace loving, and if those lands and seas where really formerly China’s for example, why not just give it to the poor countries? It’s so far away and will barely make a difference on China’s current size and economy. Those poor countries would just silently develop anyways without aggression and that will be the time where East and South Asia will actually become stable and peaceful. The only country that might try to do something will be USA to weaken China. Just say that you guys are greedy and wants to have strong strategic position to break the first island chain.

Formerly the Republic of the Philippines controlled Scarborough in 1946 after the war but During the Standoff in 2012 China broke the Agreement when Filipino ships left since then a blockade has been imposed. But China can't set up Military Bases due to the Mutual Defense Treaty of 1951 which included the Island.

Claims are only formalities, countries respect military and economic strength. The international court is an european circlejrk, do they want to fight china over that? It all falls under how philliphines and the other nearby countries deal with china with their own strength.

The west completely ignores Taiwan when it comes to the 9 dash line because Taiwan has the 11 dash line 😂. The last thing the west wants is an issue where mainland and Taiwan agree to be highlighted on the news

It was supposed to be an 11-dash line back in the 1940s, but China felt embarrassed, so in the 1950s, they changed it to a 9-dash line.

I wonder what do you guys think about the current statement "claiming Batanes Island as part of the territory of China" since it's a lot closer to Taiwan and have a similar culture and language to the point that they do understand each other from Taiwan to Ivatan( one of the islands from Batanes). Just wanna add another: the term "tao" that the Tao People from Taiwan use means "Person or Human Being" here in Tagalog and in my Native Tongue: Hiligaynon – I'm from central west.

I think that the only remaining piece for the general public in the west to embrace china as the future is the illusion of social mobility. I think a lot of the public is generally disillusioned by this.
