@philsmypharmacist: Here's what I can't stop thinking about as a pharmacist. 💊 A woman hits her 40s. Suddenly she's anxious, not sleeping, irritable, foggy, crying for no reason. She goes to the doctor and walks out with an antidepressant. But no one asked the obvious question: what are her hormones doing? Perimenopause can cause every one of those symptoms, and for a lot of women the real answer isn't an SSRI. It's addressing the hormone shift underneath it. HRT has been underused for years thanks to old, now-walked-back research, and a whole generation of women got "just take this" instead of a real conversation. I'm not saying SSRIs are wrong for everyone. Some women truly need them. I'm saying too many women never got the chance to ask if hormones were the missing piece.
