An Amuria High School bus, carrying students from St. Paul’s Katakwi SS, was involved in a devastating accident this Tuesday, July 14, along the Iganga–Mbale Highway. Near the railway crossing at Butongole, the journey of these young learners was cut short when their bus rammed into a stationary truck that had broken down on the road. The scene is one of heartbreak and chaos. As of this report, the bus driver remains trapped within the twisted metal of the wreckage, with little hope of survival. More painful still, eyewitnesses confirm that the silence of the aftermath has been broken by the sight of several students who have tragically lost their lives. Many others, broken and terrified, have been rushed to Iganga General Hospital (Nakavule) to fight for their lives.
