@uu_oi88: Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Shirazi Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Shirazi is one of the contemporary Twelver Shia Maraji’ (highest religious authorities). He was born in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, in 1941, into the distinguished al-Shirazi family, a renowned scholarly lineage that has produced many eminent Islamic jurists and religious leaders. He received his religious education under prominent scholars in the seminaries of Karbala, Najaf, and Qom, eventually attaining the rank of Ijtihad. Following the passing of his elder brother, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad al-Shirazi, he assumed the position of a Marja’ for many Shia Muslims around the world. Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Shirazi is known for his emphasis on preserving and promoting the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), supporting the observance of Islamic and Hussaini rituals, and encouraging the dissemination of authentic Islamic knowledge. His religious offices, educational institutions, and media organizations are active in many countries. He has delivered numerous lectures and authored works on Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), principles of jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), theology, ethics, and other Islamic sciences.
