@Pete:This is because the Joint commission on the accreditation of hospitals JCAHO several years ago made pain control the "4th vital sign" and literally stated that patients should not experience pain in hospital-so doctors in fear of QA statistics and surveys prescribed pain control to every patient The demand for prescription pain RX skyrocketed and pharmaceutical companies ramped up production to meet demand. then the result of SOME irresposible patients abused the Rx and ruined it for legitimate patients. Blame The JCAHO for this !!! they are a usless organization critical care Rn for 43 years

It doesn’t work for shit!!!! Only thing that takes the edge off all the bulging disk in my back that is pressing on my sciatic nerve in both legs all the way down to my feet is hydrocodone. I’ve literally begged my back doctor to operate and shave the disk so they aren’t pressing and causing this extreme pain for years. Nope, still wanna try shots!!! I’m so tired of trying to work in pain everyday just to keep my job. And yes, I have all those problems with gabapentin and had no clue. 🤬
