number 1 tip is find a charity that has some personal connection to you people will be more keen to donate when they see you are running for a charity that has some meaning to you rather than you want to run the London marathon so you applied to every charity and took the first one that gave you a space! I ran 2025 for BHF as I was born with a narrow aortic valve and have had open heart surgery twice so it’s an obvious charity for me, I raised £11,000 and then got a place for run for them again in 2026 was worried about the fundraising for a 2nd year ended up with £6,500 going next year for the hatrick need £2,500 to get me over the 20k for my 3 years that’s the goal! I would say don’t be worried about constantly sharing your training progress and updates with your fundraising link! and encourage friends and family to share your posts too they will reach other people you maybe wouldn’t

I raised just shy of £2k for Children with Cancer for the 2013 London Marathon. Long time ago, I realise, but I agree nearly all your points. It’s easier than you might think to raise money.

I did all that last year for this years London marathon even posters at work & by December only raised £100 & that was the £100 I put in. Never again
