@lozcurtis: Full vid on YT :) It felt like I’d been driving my whole life with the handbrake on and suddenly it was taken off - I went from not knowing how to drive faster to not knowing how to slow down. Everyone else had gradually learnt how to manage their time, energy and workload, but I just went from one extreme to the other 🫠 Doing nothing to doing way too much and burning out constantly. Medication has changed my life for the better in so many ways, but I wish I had started taking it decades ago. I have an immense amount of guilt and shame that I carry with me from decades of struggling with execution dysfunction, and I don’t think that would be the case if I had been medicated as a teenager. Anyway, I’m so grateful to have received the diagnosis at all, and that’s all thanks to those of you who gently broached the topic with me after you had been diagnosed. You saw similarities between us and took the time to explain the ‘other kind’ of ADHD. Had it not been for those conversations I don’t think I ever would have gone down this road. I’d be driving with the handbrake on forever 😖 Thank you x . #adhd #adhdinwomen #adhdtiktok

Also the heartbreak of people asking whether you’ve taken your meds or not (you have but it’s now 11pm and you’re just being your excited self…). My driving instructor asked me if I could go up a dose or change medication, that I should try harder, I am on highest dose and already doing everything I can. Turns out she was being discriminatory against me, she’d yell at me for the same mistakes she’d be kind about with other students. Sometimes I feel its better not to disclaim you have adhd

Productivity isn't always the best metric. When I look at my emotional regulation and sense of agency meds have more of an impact. I feel like I can rely on myself more and push myself to do things I don't feel like doing.

my meds have changed every aspect of my life. been medicated for almost 9 years now, and I wish I had been on meds earlier. every relationship in my life has improved, I've held down a steady job, my moods are regulated. it's such a blessing.

I have never actually looked into medication and seen so many different experiences. I am looking at getting diagnosed and medicated (if I have it which I’m certain I do) because I literally can’t even talk to people because I have so much going on in my head that it feels like I can’t even hold a conversation. I don’t want to lose my personality though 🥲

thank u for posting this lauren. ive been following since your EARLY days and outwardly you have always seemed so put together and successful. you were always that bitch 💅 u know. anyway i’d never have known you were experiencing something as challenging as ADHD behind the scenes, so it means a lot to hear you share such a vulnerable and deeply personal aspect of your life. LOVE u and mia xox

Meds have helped my anxiety and to function like a neurotypical but 2.5 years in, I feel like my personality and creativity is gone. I’m scared to go off them but sad to lose the real me if I stay on them

Yeah the meds help a lot but unlearning the shame and the guilt and feeling like enough and like you aren't about let everyone down if you aren't productive 24/7 takes time.

so interesting. I wonder if taking a break off them for a bit when possible or when life allows to start appreciating them again when u go back on.

this meds are addictive :') I prefer taking them to allow myself to learn new ways of dealing with life no to be a magic pill that will solve all my problems

I didn’t lose my sparkle, I found the real me. Medication honestly saved my life. I’m really happy for you and the next step is to let go of that guilt and learning to be kind to yourself. It’s a journey but I know you’ll get there
