It’s wild that we are even debating whether a country like Qatar has the 'right' to defend its own capital. Of course they do. The real tragedy is the absurdity of the situation: Qatar is actively hosting peace talks, trying to get these governments to stop killing each other, and they get bombed for their trouble. It just shows how little these ruling elites care about actual peace. At the end of the day, the common folks in Israel, Gaza, and Qatar probably just want to live their lives in safety. But the politicians and the media keep pumping out propaganda to make sure we keep seeing each other as enemies, because peace doesn't sell weapons or keep failing leaders in power. Think about how unnatural that hatred really is. Left to our own devices, humans are naturally fascinated by each other. I've eaten in countless ethnic restaurants, and I have never once walked out not enjoying the change in culture. We are wired to appreciate our differences, to share food, and to learn from one another. The curiosity and the connection are what come naturally to us—the hatred has to be systematically manufactured by people who benefit from us being afraid.
