Once I took my girlfriend to a party thrown by a bunch of biology grad students (we’re definitely a bad hang I can admit it lol) but one guy said “how many rats am I going to have to kill to get this fucking degree!?”. lol my gf immediately downed the rest of her drink and said “I’m fucking leaving” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 4+ years later we’re still laughing at it

A friend of mine had to do work for a professor’s mouse lab. I kid you tf not, the work was to drown mice, offer them a popsicle stick to grab onto, take the popsicle stick away, and do it again and again until the mouse stops reaching for the popsicle stick and has “given up on survival” I wish I was kidding. She talks to me about it like a fucking war veteran that was forced to torture kids

Thank god I worked for a professor who really cared about treating our specimens with dignity 😭😭😭 we’d even cover the frogs in my lab with napkins when we’d autopsy them for privacy 😭

was literally just reading the supplementary material for an article that used human infant heart tissue. there were details in there for why the infants died and thus had tissue to donate that were so fucking tragic
