@njeri.nderitu.nak: A Kenyan court has sentenced former Kenya Defence Forces Major Peter Mwaura Mugure to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of murdering his wife and their two young children in a case that shocked the country. The High Court ruled that Mugure was responsible for the deaths of his wife, Joyce Syombua, their 10 year old daughter Shanice Maua, and their 5 year old son Prince Michael. The family had travelled from Nairobi to the Laikipia Air Base in Nanyuki in October 2019 to visit Mugure before they were reported missing. Weeks later, detectives discovered their bodies buried in a shallow grave in Thigithu, Nanyuki. During the trial, the prosecution proved that the murders were intentional and that attempts had been made to conceal the crime by secretly burying the victims. The court sentenced Mugure to life imprisonment, bringing to a close one of Kenya's most disturbing family murder cases in recent years. Major Mugure has told the court that he does not regret his action, and will not challenge the sentence..
