In large randomized trials, just 15 spf sunscreen cut skin cancer rates in half for melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer in high risk population. Err on the side of caution and use at least 30spf. In the summer, it takes minimal sun exposure (10-30 minutes depending on your skin color and time of day) a few times a week to get sufficient vitamin D. In northern climates in the winter, it takes 2+ hours outside with exposed skin to get that same vitamin D. You’re probably vitamin D deficient in the winter regardless of how much sun you get in the summer so consider supplementing. #sunscreen #dermatologist
