Research shows that extreme heat can cause lead to leech out, which isn’t ideal for a kitchen tool you’ll probably have under high heat often 😑 They are better than Teflon. However, I still recommend minimal usage to avoid the potential lead exposure. 👉 Stainless Steel (the pan used most often by most folks) - If you’re going to use stainless steel pans, use 18/0 (0% nickel) over 18/10 (10% nickel) if you can so you can reduce the risk of exposing yourself to excess nickel (Non-Toxic Dad would rather avoid a neurotoxin like nickel than have a more corrosive-resistant pan 😆). 👉 Carbon Steel/Cast Iron - these require some TLC to maintain upkeep, but they are the Non-Toxic Dad-preferred pans for the non-stick route. For Carbon Steel, Non-Toxic Dad enjoys the de Buyer Mineral B Series (the beeswax they coat their pans with is toxin-free). 👉 Pure-Ceramic - Non-Toxic Dad is not a fan of ceramic coating, but a pure ceramic pan can be a great choice!
