@aspace2write: A lot of new writers haven’t learned this rule yet (and a lot of experienced writers need to be reminded 😅) #writingtips #characterbuilding #bookwriting
My protagonist's only goal is to be able to fall flat on her face and get up on her own strength so she can learn from her mistakes, rather than being protected by her older sister.

My protagonists goal is to search for her dad that noone has heard from in many years but as she venders out in the world the big goal will become to save the world, there will also be smaller goals from her companions she will get along the way.. is that good? Im writing my first book and I know nothing about it 🫣

For an MC, is it realistic to have a single goal? Or does it become too limiting/hard to believe for readers?

Drew :
My character doesnt really have a goal in act 1 but his actions would suggest he is trying to fix his life. But the world around has changed, he has changed. So the the vast majority of act 1 he is kind of just reactive. He has some small goals but not one in each scene or chapter. Is that ok? Act 2 develops his actual goal but it needs to form and feel possible before it can be his overarching goal.
