My husband and I have been together for almost 30 years now and we’ve been sleeping apart for 22 years. He snores and I’m a very light sleeper. We are just fine.

My bf and I are going to sleep in separate rooms for the first time tonight! Lets see how it goes, I’ve been sleeping poorly because I have anxiety about falling asleep before my bf because he snores hahha sounds so dumb but once he is asleep before me I can’t fall asleep. And he tries to wait until I fall asleep but thats kind of impossible 🤷🏽♀️

I did it for 25 years, he got addicted to corn and cheated and we divorced. Never thought sleeping separately would have that impact but it does. Not everyone but I’ve yet to meet one couple who has been married 50+ years and survived it

My parents have had separate rooms since I was a kid and they have 7 children and been married for 45 years. I’ve been married for 5 and we sleep separately too. I’m not sure why this is such a big deal.

My husband and I have separate bedrooms and it was THE BEST decision for US. My husband felt bad for keeping me up all night snoring and I felt bad being crabby towards him because I was always exhausted. It works for us and has absolutely nothing to do with “problems in the marriage”…it has made us even happier!

My fiancé and I sleep in different rooms. He has insomnia and gets up and down all night long. He sleeps with SIX pillows and many blankets in the winter. There’s no room left for me in bed lol. I need a cool room, he needs it warm. I’m 62, he’s 70 and it works for us.

Sleeping together is such an antiquated ideal. How about everyone just sleeps where they want? Eureka! 💡

I’ve always loved my own space… and this was day one with me and my husband. Why do you have to sleep in the same bed or room… we all need our own sleep and space.

It’s crazy that people automatically assume that there’s a problem in the marriage. My husband snores like a freight train and I have been sleeping in our study for years just to get some peace. 🤭 Makes me a better wife overall.

My husband and I sometimes sleep in the same bed and sometimes we don’t. If I can’t sleep or he can’t we will go to the guest bedroom to be considerate. If we built a new home we would build one with two master suites but we love and adore each other and your right it is just sleep

This has been my husband and I the last 5 years. 10 together and I truly believe we would have not stayed together if we did not choose to sleep separately. We are compatible but not sleep compatible 🤣

I feel like everyone would love to sleep with their partner. As we well know sleeping and rest is very important. So you need to do what works for you . I like the idea of having my own room.

At first, I thought it was a little awkward for a married couple to sleep separately. Like most people, I assumed there had to be problems in the marriage. I think a lot of people immediately associate separate bedrooms with a lack of intimacy or attraction, when that isn’t necessarily true at all.
In fact, it seems like it could actually strengthen a marriage by allowing both partners to get the rest they need while still prioritizing quality time together. I really appreciate you bringing awareness to this and challenging those assumptions.
I’m curious—was this something the two of you discussed while you were dating, or did it become a decision you made after you were married?
