This stuff makes me so mad. I’m paying for camp because I want to use that time for something else (usually work). Now my kids are wrecked if I don’t come or let them leave early. It’s so frustrating!

Girl… I don’t work and I get annoyed 😂. I like to see what my kids learned or worked on but 2 hours early is crazy!

I completely missed an email a couple weeks ago about a performance on a Thursday at 4pm. Luckily I happened to get off work early that day and I pulled up just in time to watch it! I told my husband I’m so glad I made it because there was a part where they included parents, some parents weren’t there, and those kids were super sad. 😞 I try to make it to all those things because my parents NEVER came to that kind of stuff. I just wish they sent a flyer home so I could have invited my husband lol

I used to be a camp director that was specifically aimed at lower income families and I tried to be SO mindful of this. No surprise pick up changes, no last minute spirit days that you had to buy a special outfit for, we did one last day end of summer barbecue (food provided!) that was on the calendar from the get go.

I agree. A 2 week long music or drama camp, I would be on the lookout for it and probably ask at registration. a 1 week science camp, nope

The day camp I work at we do one at the end of the very last week of the summer and we are kinda assuming most parents will take their kids if they come, but if they don’t we’ll still have plenty of activities for the kids. (Plus it is the last day of a ten week camp, not an every week thing)
