@invinciblevenus5: I really don’t have time to answer and I don’t want to engage in this further. I apologize for any hurt or offense I may have caused. I still stand pro Sex Workers and I will use the term now, but I will never engage in this debate online ever again, bye.

I agreed with everything you said. Most women wouldn’t do SW if they had other options with the same level of compensation.

They forget that feminism is the liberation of the female class from male supremacy... it's not about making our cage prettier and more "empowering".

This influx of new wave feminism that has attempted to glorify sex work as empowering for women is so scary :( your video on SW really gave me a new perspective on it and those that are meant to understand will. I get online debates can be intense tho so i honestly understand.

I respect your position. Personally, I don’t feel a woman’s body is a place of work. I don’t believe, like surrogacy, that a woman would choose this for herself if she had means to support herself and in that, it’s a form of exploitation.

Don’t let the keyboard warriors silence you! American/TikTok debating style is utterly populistic and exhausting. It’s not evil vs good, they don’t understand what nuance is unfortunately..

I also think it would have been completely fine if you were ‘against’ sex workers encouraging others (especially young people) into the industry, eg via positive portrayals of it on social media. I agreed with you 100%. I commented and received a response saying I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion because I was not a sex worker ???

Idk I think your original video had a good point. I think the moral relativism and normalization of these practices and extreme reactions are ultimately harmful to women and children. It’s too bad that it’s almost impossible to have a productive convo about this

Social media has completely removed the ability for some people to experience nuance. Things are so complex.

You can find articles about workers in India, in Africa, in both Central and South America as well as in the West all working in solidarity for our work to be recognized. It’s not hate it’s simply people with lived experience trying to help you understand the difference between SW and trfficking. We’re fighting for our lives. We’re fighting for labour rights and we are also fighting for the rights of the people who are forced into the industry. There are people all over the world on every continent from survival workers to the top 1% and even victims of trafficking fighting for the term SW to be used because we are fighting for our work to be recognized and for the protection that comes with it.

I agree with you fully, it’s for the best to not engage in that debate anymore, you are entitled of a personal opinion and you didn’t say anything about their safety or their rights as humans, some people just want to force their opinions (treating them like facts!) down everyone’s throats in an attempt to validate their experience, and it has to be accepted. Take care of yourself

I saw your initial video and found it very well informed and interesting. I’m confused about what part exactly was taken the wrong way? The conversation style on TT and social media in general can be so exhausting and genuinely prevents interesting conversations to be had 🤦🏻‍♀️

I want to preface with I’m not trying to debate just want to offer some further information/sources + context if you happen to see this. ☺️I don’t know if you saw my video response to your earlier post (it’s on my other page @historicalharlot) but I did make one, I think it’s just worth considering that different SW’s have different experiences and communication styles and different triggers, often those who speak the most passionately are those speaking from the most precarious positions - and while it isn’t always necessarily easy to hear it’s important for those people to have an unfiltered voice, if you have watched my response you’ll note that I speak much more from fact than personal experience, that’s because my personal experience is much less affected than my fellow workers due to my relative security (even though I am still a survival worker now - because for example I’m uni educated, housed, a white British UK citizen), I don’t experience the same rates of violence as workers on the street, or trans workers, or migrant workers, so I am able to speak from a place of much less emotion and speak to the experiences of others before my own, for people to whom these experiences of police violence, assault, etc are deeply personal it can be incredibly hard to talk about and should always be encouraged even when it’s not pretty. I think stepping away from online debates and focusing on in person community work is the best thing any ally can do to support SW’s and TV’s, so I applaud that. But I do hope stepping away from online debates/public speaking doesn’t mean stepping away from learning more, and maybe once you have done more research you’ll have a passion to speak on it again, who knows, but my comment is getting pretty long already and I have a huge list of book and documentary recommendations - starting with Not Your Rescue Project and To Live Freely in This World , a website in progress (essentially a research archive, I’ll link it at the bottom), and a YouTube channel where I find and post archival footage of SW activism || LINK: https://app.notion.com/p/Sex-Work-Policy-Myths-and-Evidence-1f0f11f64ac380de9957d3eebfd99706?source=copy_link

I’m actually shocked it’s come to this instead of turning it into something that could educate many of us. People do not understand that hostility tears us apart instead of bringing us together.
