Almost all japanese culture was stolen from china, mainly from the tang dynasty. Things like origami, tea ceremonies, matcha, sashimi, kimonos, stone seals, etc. literally everything

Can you imagine? A whole civilization could arise on an island? Starting in the Tang Dynasty and even earlier, Japan and Korea began to learn Chinese culture and agricultural techniques, including their institutional systems. They sent envoys to China to study, then brought what they learned back home. Moreover, as the suzerain state, China had the custom of bestowing attire upon its tributary states, which is how the kimono came to be. During World War II, Japan looted countless Chinese cultural treasures—medical texts, musical scores, and more. At the time, they didn’t even know what soy sauce was. And now they proudly tout it as “Japanese culture”—hahaha.
