Delta could have EASILY told the whole plane “if you have a connecting flight do not go through customs as tsa is closed” this is information THAT THEY KNOW AND DECIDED NOT TO SHARE

I’m glad that they’re home safely and your concerns as a parent are valid. However, to do for your sons would mean they would have to do for everyone. Also, “just go find my kids” on the largest airport is fairly unfair. And, yes baby adult but an adult nonetheless. Same if he commits a crime. Unfortunately, turning 18 put the adult label on you. And, in fairness, to hear that they traveled internationally alone is a fair argument.

Usually they alert the flight crew if a passenger is going to miss their flight. So they can assist. I know Southwest does.

The comments about the 18yo being an adult must not know you can’t do much of anything as an 18yo. Legally he’s an adult, but all that means is he can vote, be in the military and drive a car. He can’t check into a hotel or rent a car. We’ve really gotta change the adult level to 21. Delta definitely should have told the passengers something or TSA should have stayed open. That’s ridiculous. If they had both been minors what would they have done then?

You’re kind of talking out of both sides - if you’re okay with your “children” traveling internationally by themselves, you have to be okay with the unexpected happening and can’t blame it on an airline or airport.

I landed in Manchester nh back in January around 11 pm when they had already closed. I flew through southwest for a trial. They announced on the plain and all throughout the airport that they were closed. We were the last plane to come in and thankfully that was my last destination and didn’t have a connection but I’m just so thankful they at least made an announcement for those that may have. It was a pain getting there. I too sat on the tarmac for 3 hours and to this day still don’t remember why. I cannot imagine having to deal with this also while being so incredibly sick 😭 props to those boys for making it there and back safely and props to you mama for doing everything in your power to make sure they were safe!!! I’ll never understand the people who questioned or judged you for that 🙄 like sorry a mama was worried about her kids? Isn’t that part of being a parent? I simply could not with the comments saying “couldn’t be me because I wouldn’t let that happen.” Yes, because we just want to let our kids get hurt or worse 😩 so ignorant and so stupid of a thought let alone a comment 🥴

Unfortunately, Delta couldn’t have done anything different in this situation. I know it doesn’t make sense but unless they are labeled as unaccompanied minors per airline standards, they won’t do anything.

There is no customer service in the airline industry anymore. 😞 So glad they are back home. Also, I have 18 and 15 year old boys. I describe my 18 y.o. as “adult-ish”… he’s really just a man child- a child in a 6’4” man’s body.
