Everyone that actually wants to know where it came from: Portugal & Italy, who was first is not clear, its pretty safe to say that they both invented it at around the same time with no historical proof with who was first. Besides the inventors, multiple european countries (netherlands, lithuania, romania, etc..) have created their own versions, if you look up the name of the dessert in that language, it will say it is from that country. If you actually want to know where its from backed by google, look up “what is chocolate salami” since its written in global english therefore is neutral.
