@learningobserved: I see you standing at the kitchen counter, completely obsessed with the alternative life you’ve built, but entirely out of mental bandwidth I feel like those (ex, man made) routines gave us forced buffers… a distinct line where you switch from ‘provider’ or ‘individual’ to ‘parent’. But when you step off the conveyor belt into full time family life, those lines melt away. My husband and I are in this together 24/7. We’ve built a life we love, but we both feel the weight of this exact same challenge. He wears all of these same overlapping hats alongside me… he is simultaneously the partner, the parent, the provider, the chef, the cleaner, and the teacher. There are no physical transitions to help either of us swap hats. We are both wearing all of them, all day long. And because we know child led learning happens naturally through everyday observation, neither of us ever really ‘clocks out.’ We are always observing. Always present. I see the quiet sting of guilt that hits when you crave a boundary, even though you wouldn’t choose any other path in the world. Let this be your permission slip: It is entirely possible to love your 24/7 togetherness with everything you have, and still admit that the mental blur is exhausting for both of you. You aren’t doing it wrong. It’s just a beautifully intense way to live. Tell me we aren’t the only ones navigating the blur? 👇🏽🤍 #homeeducationuk #childledlearning #homeedlife #unschooling #honestmotherhood

wow i needed to hear this so so much. You are so right, i had this last night - i finally got some time to myself after a sleep regression, my baby was asleep earlier but my eldest was reading and was so excited to tell me about her book and i wanted to listen but i was so tired.. but i did listen as i didn’t want to burst her bubble of being so engaged and reading so well and then the baby woke up and the small pocket of time was over

Totally true. The only time I’ve had off since having my first child 8 years ago, was giving birth to her siblings. We have been home educating every single day come rain or shine for years on end. It’s very very exhausting but I love it. But it’s still overwhelming

Maybe that’s why some are put back into schools. Not criticising that but it does happen. Some children are grateful to come back too.
