uptalk is common when you’re explaining something. i think it sounds persuasive or like you’re trying to get the other person to understand what you’re getting at, get them to engage with the conversation. iirc women are more likely to do it than men, and maybe bc of that ppl often associate it with a lack of confidence and authority in what you’re saying. i really don’t see it that way, as a woman. sometimes it can make you sound a bit unsure i guess, but linguistically it’s kinda just english’s version of adding the japanese particle “ne” to the end of your sentence, but just using tone alone. when you use uptalk the tone is conveying, “you know?” or, “right?” along with your sentence.
