No way they think basic development from an unrealistic shut in (who was bullied for the span of a week) is comparable to subaru. Sure what rudeus went through in that week was horrible, he was strung on the fence naked, and kicked and beaten, but it’s completely incomparable to subaru. If you have to show the definition of concepts to define a character they’re not a good one.

If you have to explain concepts he represents he’s not a good character, I like Mushoku tensei a lot, it’s a good show. Just not anywhere near top 100 fiction, or even top 25 animanga .

I’ve seen both fans and haters try to either pin Rudeus as a strictly good or bad character; defending or hating on him and trying to define him through a black and white lens. He has made horrible decision’s, was a PDF at the beginning and was a creep. Yet, that was established as a cruel baseline for his growth throughout the story. People CAN change and that’s the whole purpose of MT. If this were a story about a man becoming a better person after massacring people everyone would praise it for being revolutionary because people are desensitized to murder which is just as bad. But because it tackles more questionable topics it is criticized. Rudeus wasn’t a good guy; that’s the point of the story. He grows in to a family man leaving behind his previous predatory and disdainful ways to live a proper life. MT isn’t supposed to be comfortable and that’s the identity of it.
