@adamtalkstech: Think you don't need the extra power of the M5 Pro? Fair, but the upgrade isn't just about speed. The base M5 MacBook Pro has a single fan, while the M5 Pro and Max get dual fans, so better cooling and airflow. You also get Thunderbolt 5 ports, which means faster docking stations and SSDs that hit double the speed of Thunderbolt 4. That's why I usually recommend stepping up from the M5 to the M5 Pro. The M5 Max is pretty expensive and most people should avoid it, but the M5 Pro has upgrades you may find useful later on. Which chip did you end up going with?
I just got a MacBook Pro m5 with 24gb ram and 1tb storage and I love it. I got the MacBook Air m4 base model last year for $700 after not owning a computer in over 15 years. I just used my phone for everything. i seriously don’t know how I survived without a laptop that long. I would have stuck with my air if the storage wasnt full. I should have gotten the 512 gb air when I got it so I traded it in and got the MacBook Pro. What made me wanna get it is having a fan and extra ports and the better screen. And it was only $50 more expensive than the 15 inch air with the same specs. The extra $50 was totally worth it.

NILmoney :
Rarely mentioned, but the pro chip can drive 3 external screens w/ lid open, and drives higher resolutions on the Studio Display than the base
