the last piece is reserved. that's why no-one ever takes the last piece, everyone knows it's reserved as a special treat for the person who gets stuck with cleaning the table and taking out the dishes

My friend did the ultimate Swedish “don’t take the last piece” thing once; took a bite out of the last strawberry and put it back into the bowl lol (we still tease him about it hah)
