@belizezoo: Meet Pedro, the newest member of our margay family. 🐾 Pedro’s story begins in San Pedro Village, Corozal. In March 2026, a village resident discovered what he believed was an abandoned domestic kitten while tending to his farm. After bringing the tiny animal home and taking a closer look, he realized it was actually a young margay and contacted the Belize Zoo for assistance. Our Wildlife Officer retrieved the cub, who was found to be in good condition. Since Pedro was so young and had been separated from his mother, it was determined that he would have the best chance of survival being hand-raised by the dedicated animal care team at the Belize Zoo.
