Different question then...why is the rain so patchy here? Usually in places I have lived (higher rainfall states) when it is raining it is raining just about everywhere.

The % means 30 percent of that “area” will get rain… not 30 percent chance it will rain…

are we so stupid and self centered as a society that we think the weather forecast specifically revolves around each of us?

its the misunderstanding of how the percentiles work in Meteorology. it coukd be explained this way or that, forwards backwards and even side to side.... but that understanding would still be lost to some... a lot of that tho is tied into the negative bias that so many have adopted over the years, making some not want to understand the percentiles correctly just as a notion or joke 🤷♂️🤦♂️kinda that same issue with watch/warning compliancy

I’ve also understood that a 30% chance of rain isn’t a 30% chance. It’s a 30% chance that the viewing area will see some level of rain. Not that the area is going to see 30% rain for the day and 70% dry. Is that understanding correct?

Was always told the percentage means that percentage of the area will received that precipitation. I guess the more you know.
