I didn't know that camp was supposed to be fun. I have severe heat intolerance and I was miserable every single year at girls Camp because they wouldn't let me stay inside and do crafts, and then we weren't allowed to swim at all. I HATED GIRLS CAMP SO MUCH.

Growing up Mormon sounds like just one long hellish fever dream I’m so sorry 😭 I went to a religious camp but we only had to sit through an hour of Bible study in the morning before we could horseback ride, swim, and play capture the flag.

I honestly LOVED girls camp but turns out it was because I would eventually come out as lesbian and liked doing outdoorsy things that I otherwise never got to do and having a weeklong camp out in the mountains with as few men in sight as possible 😂🤷🏻♂️

The forced testimony meetings! They literally make you sit around the fire even if it was freezing until everyone gave their testimony. it was supposed to be "voluntary" but leaders would not let you leave to go to bed until everyone shared. I was a private person and did not to share feelings to these people I barely knew and did not trust. Did anyone else's ward do that?

As a non-Mormon, girls camp was bomb in my ward! Great activities, decent camp food, one big sleepover with tons of friends. I’d just get to the testimony meeting and be like “praise jeebus” ✌️and go home happy.

To me nothing you said seems bad. Whats wrong with teaching young women to dress modest? Whats wrong with teaching them to make good choices.? These activities don’t sound traumatic they sound age appropriate . Can you explain where it was wrong?
