🚨 More help needed 🚨 This just never ends.💔💔💔 Today we took Moira in for her spay surgery… and found out she had pyometra. What was supposed to be a $200 routine spay turned into an over $1400 emergency surgery. We are beyond grateful we were able to get Moira out of her breeding situation and into surgery quickly. She had no obvious symptoms—she was eating, acting normal, and seemed completely fine. That’s what makes this so scary. We are so thankful we caught it in time 🙏🥺 We are also incredibly grateful she was surrendered to us… because without that, her outcome would most likely have been fatal. In the last 6 months, we’ve seen 6 pyometra cases. In the previous 3 years combined, we’ve only seen about the same total. Something is very wrong. We are seeing far too many dogs coming from breeding situations where C-sections are either not being done by licensed veterinarians—or not being done properly at all. Whether it’s improper technique or incomplete care afterward, these girls are paying the price with life-threatening uterine infections like pyometra. Pyometra is not minor. It is deadly. 💔 There is “open” pyometra with visible discharge, and “closed” pyometra where everything is trapped inside. Moira had closed pyometra. If she hadn’t been spayed when she was, this could have turned catastrophic very quickly. We are emotionally drained, and today’s bill is a major blow we did not anticipate. We are so grateful for the support you’ve shown for recent dogs like the abandoned Frenchie in the yard and Toad—but we are hurting right now and truly need help getting through this one. Adoptions are slow with summer travel season, but the dogs keep coming and emergencies don’t stop. We keep saying yes… and we will try to keep doing so —but we can’t do it alone 💔 If you’re able to donate even a few dollars, it would mean the world right now. Please consider donating via the link in our bio PayPal link in bio Please share Moira’s story and spread awareness🐾💔 #Canada #UnitedStates #American #california #usa
