Instead of using the “x” method of “locking” in my dreadlock extensions—I used a styling loop or “topsy turvy” braiding tool to pull my hair sections —>through<— the crocheted centers. This technique helps to prevent the extension from slipping down my hair section—which, in turn, helps to keep my locs secure and, potentially and most likely, extend my wear time. It also made the install much MUCH easier. It was like having an extra hand! Instead of having to keep the loc balanced or otherwise held until I “locked” it in…it just stayed in my hair because my hair was literally right through the center of it. Where that really mattered was in the back! You could definitely use this method with braided centers—but it might not work with twist-and-seals. It just depends on how locked up they are and if they are backcombed. #dreadlockextensions #syntheticdreadlockextensions #syntheticdreadlocks #curlylocs #locextensions
