I’ve worked in L&D for over 17 years and have never seen a court ordered C-section. Must have been a very serious issue and the court rules in favor of saving the infant’s life. I understand it’s a traumatic story for you but both mother and infant are patients in L&D. What was their reason for the court order?

I don’t know the facts but as a L&D nurse, it probably saved your life and your baby’s life. If the drs and nurses saw fit to involve the court, you would have probably died trying to have a vaginal delivery.

As an MD, patients are usually taken to court if they are deemed to not have capacity to make an informed decision. This usually means patients refusing to acknowledge the diagnosis they have or being unable to grasp the risks for whatever reason (mental illness, altered mental status, etc). You do NOT get taken to court unless there is a concern that the patient doesn’t have capacity to make the decision. But that’s if everyone did the right thing🤷♀️

I absolutely believe its the mother's choice!!! I also believe its her consequences for that choice. Doctors should give their medical opinion and let mom decide. If baby dies, mom is on the hook for homicide. If the doctor forces a procedure and there's a death, Doctors on the hook.

I’m just curious as to what grounds they legally stood on for a court ordered c-section….. I’m really confused 😕 there has to be more to it than you just didn’t want a c-section. Was baby’s life at risk? And you still refused the c-section? Endangering baby and yourself? Were you considered “mentally unstable” and unable to make a logical decision? What would prompt a hospital to seek a court order for a c-section?!? Always more to the story……..
