In our culture as arab if you show up to a huge wedding wearing a very simple dress, people might think you’re insulting the hosts It’s considered disrespectful because weddings are a big celebration and guests are expected to dress up.

As an Arab, I’d say we do love to dress up and wear our finest clothes to weddings, but there are still limits. Wearing white or an extremely poofy gown that could outshine the bride is generally considered disrespectful. So no, it’s not that “anything goes”—we overdress, but there’s still wedding etiquette.

Same in South Asian weddings. You are supposed to dress nice and “flashy”. It’s an insult to underdress. In my hometown people wear heavy clothes jewellery make up everything 😂😂

In the Arab world, especially in the Gulf, weddings are where we get to wear our finest clothes and most beautiful jewelry. We naturally love to dress up and celebrate beauty, and because these weddings are usually women-only events, we feel comfortable expressing ourselves and enjoying the occasion freely.

I am Saudi, and yes. We all wear black tie and outshining the bride is not a thing here (we can wear white if we wanted, but not bridal gown)

Just so you know uae is more like the most arab country but there is something you missed about it, Only the Bride’s Family and relatives Wear something so Flashy and overdressed unlike the other guests they can wear a more casual but fancy dress ,its not a necessity but more like a respect to their relatives so you don’t outshine them
