tip pools arent fair! especially when the host & kitchen people get regular pay checks. the only time I might consider a tip pool fair is if it was only for the servers on that shift no one else.

That’s so shitty. If I tip upwards of 30% it’s because my server earned it. Taking that from them to split removes the incentive that a tipped job promises. And it makes tipping above the standard 20% seem pointless.

I quit my job at a restaurant that tip pooled because I was a high earner (I’m talking working large private dinners and events where I made $500-1000 a shift) and was having to split my money with people who could barely handle three tables and didn’t even do their sidework

My last job was a tip pool. Two employees regularly got DRUNK. They took smaller sections and did zero side work. But they got the same amount as me.

tip pools only make sense if you both are doing the same task like both behind the bar. im serving my tables alone so that's my tip.

Owners are taking a HUGE portion of tips now. There’s a legal loophole by calling it a service charge.

Once I realized I make the same % as the ones that actively ignore guests and don’t know how to food mod, I stopped trying. We can all be broke 🤷🏻♀️

I applied for a job and they wanted me to do a free day of work (trial run) and they informed me tips were pooled 2 hours before I was supposed to come in. I never went for the interview 🤣

Whenever a server tells me they have tip pools (I ask) I just cashapp them money or give them cash.

The only time tip pools was okay was when I was a host at Texas road house and it was %5 from every server and there was like 15 servers each night

I worked at a job where tops were pooled. But the tips for the day were only split between the workers on shift, and only from the jar or digital tips. Anything left on a table was yours to keep.
