@justjeffingit: Thanks for the journey and saving my life 🙏🏼 Over the past couple of months I’ve had to make the difficult decision to move forward with below knee amputation. After getting second opinion from top surgeons in Houston, it was either continuing down the road of multiple reconstructive surgeries to fuse my ankle due to severe loss of cartilage + another bone graft attempt to fix the tibia with no guarantees and live with limited mobility for the rest of my life or to have it chopped off. After almost 2 yrs of trying to salvage the leg after my climbing accident, 14 surgeries, many months in the hospital, muscle and skin graft, infection complications, 2 failed bone graft with a broken donor femur, the decision was easy knowing we’ve exhausted all the options and this is the right choice for me and my family. Surgery was a huge success, focusing on recovering now and very excited to be fitted with prosthetics in the coming months so I can get back to living life again!
