@siobhanjmiddleton: When my kids needed me less, I realized I had to meet myself again. Maybe this is your invitation to do the same. #motherhoodlife #emptynest #emptynester #identityshifting #WomenOver40
This is me. I have no friends newly separated. I wish I didn’t let it get like this and I can’t get back to me. It’s so hard. I have to reinvent myself now.

It feels strange at first. Here's how I started: once they became teens and could be left unsupervised for a few hours, I started finding small things that I could do on my own. Once I got comfortable doing one thing, I added a new thing. (Brunch & a book, a movie alone, a book club with friends, skating on Friday nights, etc). By the time they were moving to the next stage if life, I had things that could fill my time and help me adjust. ❤️

Whew!! I got pregnant at 19 & had my son at 20. I feel like I have no idea who I am outside of being a mom bc I basically went from high school to motherhood 😩😩 when my one & only started driving last year I went into a depression & it’s really not gotten better. Now we’re headed into his senior year & I am struggling!

As a single mom and having my only child just graduate high school I find myself struggling because all these years it’s been about her and now I feel like I don’t know what to do anymore.

I learned this quick after my divorce. Went from 4 step-kids and a husband to alone. It was jarring.

My teenagers keep making comments about how I’m remodeling the house and reading books for fun. It’s been a hard transition finding myself again, but they’re good and I’m here if they need me.
