Also, other countries actually rehabilitate their prisoners. They get to learn skills to be self sufficient at release and the odds of re commitment is way low.

I can understand not paying the inmates to do things within their own facility, which is to them their own society like the kitchen duties. The cleaning duties laundry if they grow their own crops and all these things mostly because of my beliefs on what prison system should look like, but that is not what we’re talking about. However, I have worked in state government in our government buildings inmates are the one who do all the cleaning they cook the food in the cafeteria that the cafeteria themselves they do maintenance on the facilities. Anything you would think that the state or an employer would need to pay to maintain anything on the grounds or in the building inmates do it. Now granted it’s not just any inmate. They do have to get special permission and be a certain level of trust but it’s still been doing it and I know that they make like $.05 an hour or something. It’s such a minuscule small amount that they might as well have not paid them at all.

the only inmates that got paid in my state are the ones that worked at the factory, making uniforms and stuff. not the ones who work in laundry or the kitchen.

Its me just finding out we had free college already & they took it reagan took it away in the 60s... we have free college in nyc tho. Its been a dream. It would never happen in Alabama.
