Many civilians have lost their lives, and numerous people have been arrested without being brought before a court of law. Many bodies have disappeared, leaving families still waiting for the remains of their loved ones. There have been reports that, in some cases, families were told they must sign a statement declaring their loved one a terrorist before the authorities would release the body. Many underage children have also reportedly been arrested. There have also been reports that security forces entered people’s homes, seized valuable belongings such as jewellery, destroyed businesses and houses, and subjected women and children to torture and abuse. We urgently appeal to the international community to intervene and take immediate action to address the humanitarian situation in Kashmir. Many people are facing severe shortages of food, medicines, and other essential supplies. We call on governments, international organizations, and human rights bodies to help protect civilians, ensure access to humanitarian assistance, uphold human rights, and support an independent investigation into the reported violations. The people of Kashmir need the world’s attention and assistance without delay. Urgent appeal
