Lexapro made me sleepy all the time. I was on it for years. Stopping that really helped get rid of the fatigue. Prozac was good for a little while. But it made my anxiety 10x worse after a couple of months. So I took Effexor for the first time today.

FEEEEEEELLL THIS!!! Like oh? This is how I’m supposed to feel… it’s almost like grieving that life I lived. Not that I miss it but it’s so strange not feeling that

effexor changed my life in a not good way. I am always happy for people that medications work for. Please watch for signs the medication isnt working correctly. You need to make sure you are taking effexor at the same time everyday (set a timer if you need help remembering). Having withdrawal symptoms while taking is not a reason to up the dosage (even if your doctor says it is). Its a sign it is no longer working for you. This medication is extremely difficult to get back off of. Take that into consideration before you start it. I am so happy for you that things are looking up for you.

Absolutely confirm and understand exactly where you’re coming from. I had to grieve the loss of my memories of my younger children. I was so depressed and did nothing about it, but I hardly remember some of the years when my children were younger and it’s very painful to think of that loss that I’ll never get back. I am grateful that I found a therapist and psychiatrist and my medication has made a huge change in my life if you are struggling or hurting or confused or lost and you don’t understand what’s going on please get help. I agree with Conley OK my baby is still quiet back there . It will get better. Things will improve and the sun will come out.

Yes it’s like grief. You will be sad mad upset and then hopefully you’ll find that peace that you’ve longed for! Keep yourself doing positive things that help keep you out of that depressive state. And those things are for YOU. Not kids or husbands….. something that makes you feel like you. ❤️

Same, started a medication in April. Makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Happy I’m doing something about it but sad about all the time that has been spent locked in a depressive mindset.

I would wait for that morning to wake up and not feel depression and severe anxiety. Many trials of medications and combinations of meds before one day, when I woke up, I didn’t feel either. Thank you for talking and sharing about your depression.

I told people stories I thought were funny when I was depressed and the reaction I always got was deeper concern, seeing people less concerned about me has been the metric to prove I’m “fine.”

I know exactly what you mean, and I was thinking about that just the other day actually. I feel like I'm sad for the person and all the things I missed in the last 10 years. I'm sort of mad at myself because I never let myself think I was depressed when i really was. I think being a former collegiate athlete made me feel like I should be able to take care of this, I should be able to get past this because I'm strong but I wish I would have taken these steps so much sooner because I feel like I've wasted 10 years of my life, the good years of my life. my medication has been working for just over a year and it really was life-changing but also it hurt to know what I could have had and should have had if I had just let myself get help.
