Sam is literally described as brown in the books... Not "tanned" or "sunkissed", just brown. Also there's a group of hobbits who are described as darker in skin who were the highest in population. Everyone going "oh well done for sticking to the source material" clearly hasn't read it.

Its very clear most people here know nothing of the lord of the rings, Sam for example is described to have brown hands and brown skin. The harfoots who is a major population of the shire is described to have more brown skin. Tom bombadil for example also described to have brown hands
