I agree the call is correct, but I don't feel good about it. It was a weird bounce, both players went in carelessly. Yamal happened to be touched by the ball so he was in the right. The closest thing to a dice roll you can see in football.

I thought it was a terrible decision at the time. he didn't control the ball had zero chance of controlling it, he wasn't even looking at or in the direction of the ball. it was a joke and a ref intervening in the game unnecessarily

Are you really arguing that the guy who throws himself sideways at a defender who already had control of the ball, touched it, was careful and was mot careless. He is attacking he actually saw the defender and knew the defender didn’t see him, the intent is clearly not to control the ball but to body slam the defender. He was not looking for the ball, wasn’t trying to take possession and wasn’t going for a header, he was trying to slam himself/ your comment apply to the attacker not the defender.
