I’m sure I’m wrong, but all I hear is: “Register your game with us so that we can lock it down and, in the future, prevent it from working on anyone else’s console.” I just have a hard time believing any of these companies are making these choices for the sole benefit of the customer.

I don’t like this personally. In my opinion it’s an L. It defeats the purpose of the disc. If I wanted it digitally I would buy it digitally. And also make digital games cheaper than physical. There’s no reason for a digital push on physical media

Honestly with this now explained a bit further I think this is the best case scenario for physical media in the current market. It doesn’t eliminate the second hand market and gives the convenience of digital ownership. No disc drive moving forward will suck though.
