I will never understand why the US labels them as internment camps. They were concentration camps. That is a concentration camp.

Fyi “Aleut” is what the Russians called them. They call themselves “Unangax” in most of the chain and “Alutiiq” or “sugpiaq” closer to the Alaska peninsula.

the only reason we weren't allied with Germany in ww2 is because we had historical ties with UK and France. otherwise the US would have been an axis power

The topic of German POWs being treated extremely well during the war will never cease to amaze me. We have an old military base where I live that used to house Germans during the war. The local museum has photos of them playing games, eating big meals, joining recreational clubs. All of this while black American service members were treated like scum.

I’m from Ketchikan where a camp was located and locally they still don’t like talking about it. I’m Tlingit, ww2 was an insane time for everyone. We were code talkers as well.
