I’m embarrassed to say that Oregon was where I experienced my first sneaker wave and I was on shore, tide came in and I went out with tide abt a hundred feet from shore and that’s when I was like “ykw imma swim a bit and then let my buoyancy take me to the beach.” Then I seen a fucking snake in the ocean and heard Steve Irwin from heaven SCREAMING at me so I swam faster

My sincerest apologies to the beautiful LoCALs. 🤍 She was way too low on the rocks. We know. She knows. I definitely let her know. 😅 We recently moved to the west side of the country from Florida and learned very quickly that the Pacific has a completely different personality than the ocean we’re used to. I shared this because it was genuinely terrifying, and if it makes even one person keep a little more distance from the water, it’s worth posting. Thanks for watching. Much love to everyone. 🫶🏽

Sneaker waves are crazy. A family friend of my parents was vacationing in Dominican Republic, and was just chilling on some rocks, just like you, when one hit her. The water pummeled her against the rocks so bad that she's now permanently in a wheelchair.

Yeah this is why nearly every beach accessible or tide pool area in Big Sur has a large sign telling you not to go near the water. The central coast has incredibly powerful waves and currents and has killed many people. as an experienced open ocean swimmer I would never step foot in the this part of the pacific

Ppl are acting like ocean & tide surge safety is taught all over the country. East coast waters are so different than west coast. The pacific is mean, and dangerous, and cold. ESPECIALLY near cliffs. Be careful out there girl. Sincerely- born and raised Californian.
