Why can’t we be INFLUENCED by each others’ cultures and have to be who copied who? Tbf tho there’s a lot of Chinese influence- we were colonized by China for 1000 years after all

The moment my mom hears canto in a Vietnamese setting she’ll switch to canto lol recently in Vietnamese bbq shop to get roast duck and pig and she hears the worker speaking canto in the back to each other and she’ll order canto instead of Viet

we sound and eat similarly bc we have similar ancestry lol. modern vietnamse and cantonese all came from the bách việt (or baiyue) ppl. which is hundreds of non-han tribes that resided in southern china and northern vietnam in ancient times. so we tend to share many things culturally (not everything ofc).
