@burned_notbroken: Replying to @viks3d a burned out pursuer has likely been emotionally processing the relationship for months or years and is too depleted to do it with a therapist - especially when they now feel like they’ll be the “bad guy” for wanting to end the relationship. My advice will always be to focus on yourself as an individual instead of trying to “save” the relationship with counseling. #burnedoutpursuer #relationshipburnout #emotionalsafety #relationshiprepair #separation

She asked for couples counseling a couple years ago, I went reluctantly. We only went to a couple of sessions. It wasn’t productive at the time. When she indicated she was “done” I suggested couple counseling again. She agreed, reluctantly. But, it was clear she didn’t want to be there. Prior to our last appointment she said she would no longer go. After seeing this, I agree that we maybe should have just done our own counseling and coaching to create space and mindset for us to attempt to reconcile. It feels like we took a step backward through this. Now, I’ve stepped back completely. Just working on myself and giving her space to regulate. Hoping that in the next couple of months she will be willing to agree to a long-term separation, rather than divorce, where I can continue to work on me, while she works on her, and I give her space.

I saw this page 2 days ago and too late. partner was stage 3 and I didnt get the right tools to fix it. Likely going to stage 4 and I am wondering if we live in the same place if that will make things worse. we have 2 little ones and I just want to make sure everyone is doing OK. I wanted to do therapy but it seems thats not a good idea at this point.

I asked for years to do counseling and then once he decided he was ready, I was burnt out and said no. Because somehow he had this air of confidence as if he would be vindicated. I knew if we went to the wrong one I would get screwed yet again

I'm at this point. it isn't an ultimatum, but basically "our relation won't be able to last if you don't go to therapy. if you can't find the motivation to go, I won't be able to stay. but know that even if I leave, our kids will still be facing what you aren't. I'm hoping you find the motivation to go. maybe for us. maybe for me. maybe for our kids. but please, find the motivation"

We did couples counseling and it was great up to a point. The counselor told my wife “you’re at a crossroads, you’re either in or you’re out” which we both thought was a WILD thing to say. Needless to say, we stopped going to the counselor and things have been much better for us as a couple. We started to realize that our counselor was making us butt heads more than trying to resolve what was going on

It’s frustrating that my comments keep getting filtered, even when I’m trying to support people who describe unhealthy relationship dynamics. I disagree with the message being promoted here because it feels one-sided and doesn’t acknowledge personal accountability or the impact on a spouse. I think building a platform around only one perspective of a marriage can leave out important context.

this is what I needed to hear, I wanted to push but she is burnt. I am thinking of only bringing that back up if we ever spark again after working on each other

He won’t do individual or couples therapy. There is no hope for change in my opinion if they aren’t willing to do therapy.

If my husband asked for marriage counseling right now I wouldn’t go. I’m so burned out and done. He definitely needs to go though.

He initiated therapy but didn’t participate. So I decided we then get a divorce cause he was definitely burnt out. He then got sad I left him. He cheated and now has openly moved on but constantly keeps contact only texts and no phone call. He had blocked me but softly unblocked me but won’t divorce me 🤦🏾‍♀️we have separated for 6 months now and I have to move back next week and it makes me nervous 😬 I have done work, got coaching and got help. What do I do now?
