that's not true; I paid off 2 of my 3 homes in 11 years each and it wasn't cuz of 1, 2 or 3 extra payments.

My initial mortgage was 8.5%. Wells Fargo sent me an offer to refinance at 5.5% with no cost to me. A year later, they offered me another deal to drop it to 3.85%. I paid my house off nine years early.
